Zona Sayer

Zona Mae Sayer, age 78, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, under the care of her son, Tim, and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee, MN. Visitation will be held 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, MN, with prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Zona Mae Sayer was born June 27, 1938, in Audubon, MN, to Peter and Alpha Johnson. Zona was married to Vincent L. Sayer on November 16, 1956 in Detroit Lakes, MN. When the couple took time away from working, they enjoyed many years together dancing country two-step and waltz. Vincent preceded her in death on December 18, 1978. After 39 years apart, they are now reunited in God's Kingdom.

Zona worked for the Holiday Inn Moorhead and Detroit Lakes for several years. She also worked for the Detroit Lakes Public Schools until retiring after 20 years in 2010.

Zona is survived by her 9 children and their spouses: Sharleen (Roger) Eckert, West Fargo, ND, Michael (Nancy) Sayer, Frazee, MN, Brice (Tracy) Sayer, Spotsylvania, VA, Brian (Victoria) Sayer, Onaway, MI, Randal Sayer, Bettendorf, IA, Todd (Becky) Sayer, Mesa, AZ, Tim Sayer, West Fargo, ND, Kristy (Steve) Oxtoby, Howard's Grove, WI, Darryl (Angie) Sayer, Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
