The funeral services for Billy (William) Day, age 60 of Vergas, MN, will be held Sunday March 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm, at the Vergas Community Center in Vergas, MN, with Reverend Gary Klempke officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Vergas Village Cemetery in Vergas. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Vergas Community Center from 4-7 pm, and also 1 hour prior to the service on Sunday. Billy died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes due to an automobile accident.
Billy (William) LeRoy Day Jr. was born on March 2, 1949 to William Sr. and Patricia Ann (Eastman) Day/Anderson in Superior, WI. He lived there for 16 years until he moved to St. Paul, MN. While in St. Paul, Billy worked numerous jobs until he moved to Vergas, MN in 1990 and opened Billy's Corner Bar. He married Verla Bruhn on November 23, 1991 in Frazee, MN. After selling the bar in 1995, he has worked various jobs and has enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with friends and family.
Billy is survived by his wife, Verla Day; sons, Brian (Shelley) Day and Shawn (Dell Rae) Day; granddaughter, Alex Day; mother, Patricia Anderson; siblings, Susan (Paul) Merwine, Mike (Colleen) Anderson, Rick (Cheryl) Anderson, and Paul (Dawn) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Billy in death is his father, William "Bud" Day, step-father Alvin Anderson and his best friend, Buster Brown.
