Robert Allan Leinum, 80, Vergas, MN died Sunday, June 6th at Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, ND. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Furey Funeral Home in Vergas, MN, with Reverend William Aufdenkamp officiating. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Furey Funeral Home in Vergas, MN. Interment will be in the Vergas Village Cemetery.
Robert Allan Leinum was born September 9, 1929, in Wolverton, MN, to Anton and Hilda (Berg) Leinum. He was raised and educated in Wolverton. He moved to Minneapolis where he attended the University of Minnesota and worked for Pillsbury. Robert served with the US Army, stationed in Germany. Following his discharge, he returned to work for Pillsbury as a mechanical engineer. In 1985, he retired and spent
his summers in Vergas and winters in Safford, Arizona.
Robert loved golf, fishing, animals and his time in Arizona.
Survivors include his soul mate and fiance', Char Thermes of Vergas, MN; two sisters, Alice (Harold) Winter of Pipestone, MN and Donna Weigel of Albertville, MN; and three brothers, Virgil (Gretchen) Leinum of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Floyd Leinum of Minneapolis, MN and Dennis Leinum of Ohio, and also several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; brother, Andrew; and sister, Edith
