Reynold Fick

Reynold Ernest Fick, 86, Vergas, MN, died Saturday, January 1 at his home under the care of Hospice Of The Red River Valley. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Loon Lake, rural Vergas, MN. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call 4:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Loon Lake

Reynold Ernest Fick was born February 10, 1924 in Dora Township, rural Vergas, MN to Charles and Frieda (Richter) Fick. He was raised and educated in rural Vergas and then worked on the family farm with his parents. He served with the U. S. Air Force during WWII until the service connected deaths of his two brothers forced his discharge. Following his discharge, he returned to the family farm. Reynold was united in marriage to Alvina Kratzke May 20, 1953 in Vergas. They farmed the Fick family farm and Reynold also worked for West Central Turkey Processing in Pelican Rapids from 1956 to April, 1989.

He enjoyed farming, baseball, having played with the Vergas Loons, football, and being active at St. Paul's Lutheran Church having held several church offices and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the American Legion Post at Dent.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Alvina of Vergas, a son: Bill of Vergas, a daughter: Barbara (Jon) Henschen of Norwood, MN, 2 granddaughters: MaryBeth Moenkedick and Pauline Henschen; 6 sisters: Ruth Davis of Pelican Rapids, MN, Pearl Rehborg of Gwinner, ND, Laura Kmoch of Dent, MN, Lorraine Davis of Pelican Rapids, MN, Wilma (Duyane) Teigen of Pelican Rapids, MN, Edie (Jim) Thomas of Elizabethton, TN, a brother: Ralph Fick of Dent, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Walter and Harold and two sisters: Luella Marweg and Violet Fick. Furey Funeral Home is serving the family.
