Raymond Ellsworth Bruhn, age 91, of Vergas, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2018 at Perham Health in Perham, Minnesota.
Raymond (“Munn”) Bruhn was born in Vergas, Minnesota on June 11, 1927 (Birth weight 13.5 pounds!) He attended Frazee High School where he was an outstanding athlete in baseball, football, boxing and track.
Raymond married Donna Peterson, also of Vergas, on January 22, 1949 in Vergas. Together they farmed and raised beef cattle until 1969. After that they created the business Bruhn Realty in Vergas which opened in 1971.
Over the years Raymond was an avid trapper and hunter as well as a baseball player on the Vergas team. He was a member of the Vergas fire department. the Elks, the Eagles, Board of Realtors, Hobart Township officer, El Zagal Shrine motorcycle patrol and an active Masonic Lodge member (earning his 50 year pin in 2010.) He was also an avid golf enthusiast.
Surviving Raymond is his life partner of many years, Donna Rae Hill of Montesano, Washington; daughter, JoAnn Bruhn (Tom Norquist); son, Michael (Julie) Bruhn; grand children, Nicole Hellerstedt, Mark Schermerhorn (Sara Parizek), Justin Bruhn (Laura Hammer), Melissa (Jason) Truax, Christopher Bruhn; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Whitney, Louis, Raymond, Benjamin and Reese.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, John Bruhn and Ida (Wieman) Bruhn; step-father, Frank Schimelpfenig; wife, Donna Bruhn; sons, Randy Bruhn and David Bruhn; grandson, Craig Schermerhorn; siblings, John (Jack) Bruhn, Elmer Bruhn, Leona Wall, Claudius Bruhn and Bernice Smith.
A memorial service and celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at the Vergas United Methodist Church
on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 to 10:30.
