Patrick J. Furey, age 56, of Frazee, Minnesota, died Sunday, November 24, 2019.
Patrick John Furey was born August 5, 1963 to Bernard and Katherine (Tuttle) Furey in St. Paul, MN. Patrick was an infant when the family moved to Frazee. He attended elementary school in Frazee, graduating with the class of 1981 at Frazee High School. He attended college at NDSU and University of Minnesota studying agriculture. Patrick enjoyed working as a farmhand in his young adult years and continued to work on farms at every opportunity.
His first marriage produced two children, John and Katelyn. The couple ran the Frazee True Value Hardware Store for ten years and Milano’s Coffee Shop in Perham for three years.
Patrick married Sara Jayne Lunder June 26, 2004. He was Sara’s everything. He transitioned to working as real estate broker and owner of Heart O’ Lakes Realty. He also owned and operated for many years the bowling alley in Frazee, Zee Lanes, as well as Pelican Pizza. He was an active member of the Detroit Lakes Breakfast Rotary Club and the Detroit Lakes Shriners.
Patrick’s hobbies included flying, music and boating. He had a pilot’s license and was bass player in several church groups in both Fargo and Frazee. Boating was always a favorite pastime, in 2018, Pat and Sara began a new adventure as owners of the Alaskan Legend. This past summer Pat loved to share the yacht with both families and customers. Pat and Sara loved sharing the Alaskan inside passage with everyone, in person or by photos of humpback whales, orcas, bears and glaciers.
Another great joy was the Furey Percherons, he showed these beautiful horses off around the Midwest. The Denver Stock Show was a highlight for him to show their great team.
