Michael Puetz

Michael James Puetz was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on December 19, 1942 to William and Pearl Puetz.  He graduated from St. Thomas Academy in St. Paul, MN in 1960.

Michael joined the US Army and served 3 years.  While serving in Germany he met his wife, Anna Karin Vorheim. They were married in 1965 and had 2 children, Kristina and John.  They later divorced.

Mike was an accomplished photographer and attended the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.

Michael married Zoanne Beddow and they were blessed with a son, Moses.  Mike and Zoe embraced the true back to nature lifestyle by traveling and living throughout the United States in a 1956 converted school bus.

Mike’s artistic talent developed as he pursued a career in brass design with the company, Brass Designs, of Minneapolis.   He also helped plan many renovations with his friend, John Eckely, and his famous company, City Salvage, of Minneapolis. Mike embraced this company’s mission of salvaging old buildings, with an emphasis on reclaiming and restoring old bars.

Michael loved and appreciated the fine craftsmanship of old buildings and his excellent carpentry skills reflected that passion.

Mike and Rhonda Duffy were married in 1985.  They had a daughter, Magdalena.  He also welcomed and raised Rhonda’s daughter, Juva.

Perhaps Mike’s most outstanding talent was his ability to design and create stunning glass stained windows.  His pieces are on display in many homes and buildings.  The Methodist Church and the Vergas Hardware Store in Vergas, MN proudly display his handiwork.

Mike was a simple peaceful man who loved his family, nature, his pets, and the quiet lifestyle that his house in Vergas provided.

Michael passed away from brain cancer on August 27th 2019, surrounded by family and friends at his home in Vergas, Minnesota

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl Puetz and his son, John Puetz.

He is survived by his children, Kristina Martin, Moses(Charisse)Puetz, Magdalena Puetz, and Juva Kadlec(Randy).He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dakotah, Heather, and William Blackcoon, Savanna Gartner, William, and Beckett Puetz , Dylan and Alex Kadlec, and great grandchildren, Cameron, Armani, Amariana, Jolee, Violet, and Liam

He is also dearly missed by his soulmate and companion for 30 years, Susanne Frentess , sister, Marge (Dick)Falen, brothers, David(Patricia), Richard(Lonnice), and Steven(Elizabeth)

A celebration and remembrance of Mike’s life will be held on Saturday September 21st at 1:00pm,

at the residence of David and Pat Puetz, 34053 Camp Cherith Road, Frazee, MN  56544.
