Merlyn Duane "Bub" Moe, age 75, of Vergas, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday,
November 3, 2011. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2011, at the Vergas
United Methodist Church with a prayer service to take place at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one
hour prior to the service at the community center on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at the Vergas Community Center. Interment will be made in Vergas Village Cemetery. Lunch will be hosted at the Vergas Community Center following the service for all to attend.
Bub was born June 18, 1936 in Hope, ND, to Otto and Lucille (Thilmony) Moe. He grew up and
attended school in Valley City, ND, where he lived until moving to Rose Lake, near Vergas, MN, in 1949
where his parents purchased Rocky Bar (now known as Spanky's). Bub and his dad, Otto built Moe's
Garage in 1955, where Bub did business for the next 56 years, having wrenches in his hands until the time of his death.
Bub was united in marriage to Jane Langager on August 30, 1959. They were blessed with 3 children: Nancy, William and Kellie. Bub was dedicated to his family and to his wife, Jane of 52 years,
planning date days on Fridays for their time to get away.
Bub truly enjoyed his work and spent many hours at the shop, with the community trusting
his knowledge and expertise of his mechanical skills. The shop was often a gathering place for many
to come visit and catch-up on many important topics. Bub was a quiet and friendly person and a
good listener. He touched the lives of many people that he met and they often felt a connection to
his kindness and sincere generosity. He will truly be missed by his many friends and loving family.
Bub also enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gardening, golfing, cutting wood, wood working,
making projects in his wood shop and creating hand-made fish-decoys.
Bub is survived by his wife: Jane of Vergas; 3 children: Nancy Moe of Vergas, William "Bill"
Moe of Vergas and Kellie (John) Floren of Willmar, MN; 5 Grandchildren: Jenna Wollitz, Isabella Heuer,
Jason Floren, Lucas Floren and Michael Floren; 3 sisters: Mary Lou (Arnold) Bennett of Frazee, MN,
Elizabeth "Betty" (George) Bertram of Balsam Lake, WI, and Janet (Earl) Scott of Detroit Lakes, MN;
1 brother, Marvin (Linda) Moe of Lakeville, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Maynard and Myron.
