Mary Andersen

Mary Lynn Andersen of Frazee, MN, died at the age of 24 in Gillette, WY as a victim of homicide. Her unidentified remains were found on August 10, 1983 in Gillette and remained unidentified for 31 years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday September 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Xavier Ilango officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 5:00-7:00PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mary was born to Wilfred and Eileen (LaChapelle) Andersen on January 1, 1959 in Detroit Lakes, MN. She attended Frazee High School until she began traveling the United States. Mary was united in marriage with Herbert Shondel on October 26, 1978 in Fairfield, IA, to which a daughter, Crystal, was born. Mary was always a free spirit who enjoyed travel but always kept in touch with her family. She also enjoyed listening to her father sing.

Mary was preceded in death by her father Wilfred Andersen of Frazee; grandparents, Jerome and Lena LaChapelle of Frazee, and Chris and Anna Andersen of Ogema, MN; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her mother Eileen Andersen of Frazee, MN; a daughter, Crystal Andersen of Detroit Lakes, MN; sisters, Wendy (Keith) Ketter and Debbie Korf both of Frazee; brother, Joe Andersen of Frazee; granddaughters, Shawna Altepeter and Alexis Palm.

After all these years we can finally bring her home to rest.
