Margaret Cushing

Margaret M. Cushing was born April 17, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Peter and Jessie (Clouston) Rasmussen. She passed away Sunday March 21, 2021 at the Frazee Care Center.

She grew up and attended school in Chicago.  On April 17, 1947 Margaret was united in marriage to George Cushing in Chicago, Illinois.

Margaret and George retired to Lake Sybil in 1970 and Margaret became active with the Homemakers Club of Vergas. She and George supported various veterans’ organizations throughout their lives.  She was proficient at arts and crafts, was a prolific reader, and especially relished working crossword puzzles. Margaret also enjoyed going out for a roast beef sandwich and pie at the Loon’s Nest in Vergas.  She was always happy to get together with friends, and family around the kitchen.  And while there, she could play a wicked game of dominos.

She is survived by her children: Lana (Stephen) Kaja, Linda (Peter) Bare, granddaughter: Jesse (Brian) Heffernan and three great grandchildren, Benny, Molly, and Heidi Heffernan.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents: Peter and Jessie Rasmussen; husband: George Cushing in 2003, and her brothers Howard and Robert.
