Laura Leona Damlo, age 91, of Frazee, MN, died Monday, March 21, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Lunch will be hosted at the church following the service for all to attend. Interment will be made in the Gorman Township Cemetery next to her husband, Lambert.
Laura was born October 8, 1919, the only child of Adolph and Minnie (Ziegler) Schultz. Laura attended country school at Luce, MN. Laura married Lambert Damlo on December 21, 1936. They resided in Gorman Township, Otter Tail County, MN where they farmed for 53 years, retiring in 1989. Laura also worked at Thrifty White Drug in Perham and the Red Owl Store in Detroit Lakes. Laura was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee.
Laura enjoyed spending every minute she could with her family and relatives. Her grandchildren were very special to her. She loved singing hymns and playing cards. She will also be remembered for her love of cooking and baking. She had a gracious, kind heart and deep rooted faith in God.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Pastor Vicky, and Pastor Aufdenkamp for the excellent care and compassion they have showed Laura over the years.
Laura is survived by her son, Monroe (Jane) Damlo of Perham, MN; grandchildren: Carrie (Dennis) Mayfield and Paul (Amelia) Damlo; and great grandchildren: Lucas and Alyssa Mayfield and Jacob, Sarah and Aaron Damlo.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Lambert and her son, Marlyn.
