Karen Marjorie Wierima

Karen Marjorie Wierima, 81, of Frazee, Minnesota, passed away on January 21st, 2025. 

Karen was born on September 18th, 1943, to Harry and Fairlee Austin in Breckenridge, MN. She was the oldest of four children raised on a farm just outside Richville, MN. She graduated from Perham High School in 1961 and Nursing School at Brainerd Community College in 1964. She worked as an LPN for more than 50 years caring for Nursing Home residents.

Karen married her best friend, Donald Wierima, on December 21st, 1963, in Perham. Karen and Don raised two children, Lynn and Michael in Park Rapids, Baudette, Breckenridge and Fergus Falls, MN. 

Karen loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing and volunteering at United Methodist Church in Richville.

Karen is survived by her husband of 61 years, Don of Frazee and Son Michael of North Mankato, brother Lyle Austin of Lancaster, VA and sister Cindy Reiwer of Perham. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Megan, Brittany, Brandon, Emily, Madeline, Lucas, Devin and Sophia, as well as eight great-grandchildren. 

She is also survived by lifelong friend Alice Stine.

She was preceded in death by daughter Lynn in 2015 and brother Lloyd Austin in 1993. 

Celebration of life will be held at Furey Funeral Home April 11th, 2025. Visitation starting at 12 PM and Service at 1 PM
