Joyce Wothe, age 95, of Frazee, MN, passed away peacefully under the care of Red River Valley Hospice, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee.
Joyce was born April 9, 1919, in Little Sauk, MN, to Hildor and Elsie Johnson. She grew up in Frazee, graduating from Frazee High School with the class of 1937. Joyce was married to Cecil Wothe in Frazee, MN. The couple had two sons, Alan and Bruce. The family moved to South Milwaukee, WI, for two years, while Cecil worked during the war effort. The family then returned to Frazee in 1951. Joyce began work as a secretary for the Becker County Highway Department where she worked until retiring in 1984. Joyce was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she also served on the Altar Guild. She enjoyed playing golf, and continued to play until she was 90. Many great memories were also made during the many trips the family made together. Joyce will be dearly missed.
Joyce is survived by son, Bruce (Elaine) Wothe of Atwater, MN; daughter-in-law, Kay Wothe of Frazee, MN; 6 grandchildren: Kris (Duaine) Rebiskie of St. Bonifacius, MN, Mark Wothe of Minneapolis, MN, Phil (Stacy) Wothe of Waconia, MN, Lissa (Mark) Borchert of Atwater, MN, Steve (Robin) Wothe of Atwater, MN and Susan (Dominic) Popowski of Louisville, KY; 12 great grandchildren: Matthew and Nicole Beyer, Stephanie and Brennen Wothe, Erica, Miranda and Carson Borchert, Hunter and Brooke Gronli, and Dominique, Ladislia Mary Joyce and Henry Popowski; 2 sisters: Olive Anderson of Moorhead, MN and Gloria (Bill) Snamiska of Milwaukee, WI; along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Joyce in death was her husband, Cecil Wothe; son, Alan Wothe; 1 brother, Merle; 2 sisters: Eleanor Olson and Beaner Thelen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Red River Valley Hospice and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
