Isabell "Bell" Martha Anderson, age 84, of Frazee, MN, passed away peacefully at Ecumen Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes on Monday, August 24, 2015.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Furey Funeral Home, Frazee with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be made at Dretsch Memorial Cemetery in rural Frazee.
Bell was born in Melrose, MN, February 11, 1931, to John and Mary (Nierman) Jager. She grew up in Melrose, eventually moving with her family to Rochert, MN. She attended Shell Lake Country School.
Bell then moved to Moorhead, where she worked for a number of years. She married August Schaefer Jr., in Moorhead in May of 1949. The couple lived in Moorhead, then made their home in rural Frazee on a dairy farm where they raised 6 children. The families' life was saddened by August's death in 1963. Bell married Arden Anderson in July of 1966. They continued farming.
Bell had a true love of life on the farm and enjoyed gardening and tended both vegetable and flower gardens. Bell was known as the "barefoot lady of Frazee" and thought of shoes as an optional part of everyday apparel. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and had a way of making each of her grandchildren feel special. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her 6 children: Russell (Carol) Schaefer of Detroit Lakes, Ronald Schaefer of Elbow Lake, MN, Roger (Anita) Schaefer of Frazee, Robert Schaefer of Minneapolis, MN, Rachel (Bryan) Vinz of Centennial, CO, Randall (Carol) Schaefer of Fargo, ND; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 siblings: Rita Hannem of Bemidji, MN, Virginia Morse of Bird Island, MN, John Jager Jr., of California, Trudy (Ron) Chapman of Detroit Lakes, and Charles (Georgeen) Jager of Detroit Lakes; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, August and husband, Arden; and 8 siblings: Helen Huys, Richard Jager, Norbert Jager, Albert Jager, Katherine Cahlin, Mary Krier, David Jager and Patricia Flately.
