Inez Zitzow, age 85, of Vergas, MN, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Essentia Health Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Vergas United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Vergas United Methodist Church with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the spring of 2013 at the Vergas Village Cemetery, Vergas, MN.
Inez Lillian Zitzow was born April 9, 1927 to Herbert and Bertha (Brown) Lewis at home in Candor Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. She grew up and attended country school in Candor Township through the 8th grade. Following her schooling, Inez worked for a time before meeting Donald Zitzow. The couple was married on November 21, 1945 at the United Methodist Church in Vergas. The union was blessed with 5 children: Connie, Dewey, Kenneth, Brian and Byron. The young couple made their home in Vergas and in 1984, they moved to their dream home on Lake Seven.
Inez enjoyed caring from her family and had a true passion for fishing. The family enjoyed many days fishing on the areas lakes both summer and winter. Inez and Donald also enjoyed dancing during their younger years.
Inez is survived by one daughter, Connie McPherson of Detroit Lakes; 3 sons: Dewey of Vergas, Brian (Kelle) of Cottage Grove and Byron (Connie) of Vergas; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Bess Nustad of Detroit Lakes; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 1996; son, Kenneth; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
