Grace Blaine

Grace Julia (Riebe) Blaine, 90, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Grace was born in Frazee on November 9, 1928 to Julius and Gertrude (Munder) Riebe. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee where she married Donald (Doc) Blaine on October 19, 1947. The couple had four children, James, Janice, Scot and Steven.

Grace worked as a waitress at local restaurants in Frazee and later as a cook for the Frazee School District.
Grace enjoyed baking and cooking her family’s favorite foods. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. She also spent many hours watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports.

Grace will be dearly missed by her daughter Jan (Dan) Moriarity, Littleton, CO; sons Jim (Sherry) Blaine, Frazee, Scot Blaine, Detroit Lakes, Steve (Sue) Blaine, Annandale; Grandchildren Tracy (Ed) Arnston, Tyler (Amy) Blaine, Trisha (Chris) McLane, Ryan (Martha) Moriarity, Angie (Shane) Bellanger, Preston and Alex (Brianne) Blaine . Great grandchildren, E.J., Sophia, Asher, Maggie, Connor, Clara, Mercedez and Maddisen; Rod (Shirley) Riebe, brother; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Preceding Grace in death are her husband, Doc; her parents, Julius and Gertrude; daughter in law Wanda Blaine; long time friend Roland Baumbach; siblings Marge Niess, Luverne Bergren, Helen Jenson, Jimmy Riebe, Jerry Riebe, and Linda Peterson.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bible school or release time classes.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, Minnesota. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
