Ethel B. Wacker, age 104, formerly of rural Frazee, died Monday, September 5, 2022, at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 10, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Evergreen in rural Frazee with visitation 1-hour prior. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be an evening visitation on Friday, September 9, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
Ethel Bernice Wacker born to Edward and Anna (Nelson) Mickelson on October 30, 1917, in Shell Lake Township, rural Becker County, where she was raised and educated. Ethel was united in marriage to Fred Wacker, December 19, 1934, at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Evergreen. They farmed in Toad Lake Township during their married life. She worked for a short time at the turkey plant in Frazee. Fred died in 1992. Ethel was united in marriage to Adam Friedrich at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Evergreen for four years until he died in September 16, 2001. Ethel has lived in Oak Crossing the past 3 years.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidering, gardening, baking, making lefse and caring for others. Ethel enjoyed time spent in the woods, worked very hard on the farm, her & Fred were always together from farming chores to deer hunting. Since the day they met at the dance hall, they would waltz together for 57 years. Ethel published a book called “Memories of Yesteryear” which is a cherished keepsake for the entire family. She loved her family, she had a full life grounded in faith and love for all who surrounded her. She was an active member of her church.
Survivors include 6 children: Gloria Beck of Menahga, MN, Jeannette Mickelson of Frazee, Roger (Kay) Wacker of Frazee, Sandy (Jim) Hanebuth of Detroit Lakes, Fred (Debbie) Wacker of Frazee, Calvin (Lynn) Wacker of Orlando, FL; 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 40 great-great grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; 1 grandson, Roy Beck Jr.; 2 brothers, Herbert & Lyle; and 2 sisters, Mildred and Edith; sons-in-law, Roy Beck Sr. and Lyle Mickelson.
