David S. Brenk, age 49, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away unexpectedly at this home on Wednesday, December 15, 2010.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee with Rev. William Aufdenkamp officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. David was born September 1, 1961 at Detroit Lakes, son of Jerry and Ardis (Hovland) Brenk. He graduated from Frazee High School with the class of 1979. Then in 1984 he graduated from the School of Pharmacy at North Dakota State University. He interned at St. Luke's and St. Ansgar in Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN.
Following his internship, he gained employment with Steve Knuttila and Curt Itner at the Prescription Shoppe in Detroit Lakes. After a few years there, he purchased the pharmacy. He later sold it to Sanford Health and continued to work as a pharmacist there until his death.
He loved to bowl and play golf. Dave and his Dad, Jerry bowled in the Nationals every year no matter where the tournament was held. His Mom, Ardis went along and they vacationed together.
After his Dad's death, David took his place in caring for his mother. This included putting her name on the list at the Assisted Living at the Frazee Care Center so he didn't have to worry about her living alone.
David was a very caring and dependable person, a good son, and great friend to all who knew him.
He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee where he taught Sunday School over the years and currently served as a church elder. He was also president of the Detroit Lakes Lions and also served on many offices at the Frazee Golf Course.
David is survived by his mother, Ardis of Frazee; sister, Shelly Willberg and 2 nephews, Trevor and Travis Willberg of Bagley, MN; aunt and uncle, Jeanne and Everett Kruger of Audubon, MN; aunt Joan McColm of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Brenk; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
