Daniel Hodgson

Daniel E. Hodgson, age 71, of Frazee, passed away on August 6, 2015, at his Wymer Lake home surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, at United Methodist Church in Frazee, Pastor Ray Sherwood officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service.
Dan was born on November 12, 1943 to Everett and Shirley (Hanft) Christy in Carrington, ND. Dan's father passed away when he was an infant. In December of 1945 his mother, Shirley, married Robert Hodgson who adopted and raised him as his own son. He attended school in Frazee and graduated from Frazee High School in 1962. During his senior year he started dating Dolores "Dodie" Roberts and they were married at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake on July 21, 1963. To this union a daughter, Carrie, was born. They lived in the Twin Cities area where Dan worked for several years as a barber. Dan then attended Dunwoody Institute and graduated with a degree in commercial heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. He became a member of the Pipefitters Union Local 539, and also taught classes at Dunwoody Institute. The last 15 years of his working career he was a mechanical inspector for the City of Minneapolis. Dan retired on April 1, 2006. After retirement Dan and Dodie returned to Frazee and built their retirement home on Wymer Lake.
Dan was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He loved the simple pleasure of a country drive observing nature. Dan had a passion for motorcycles and with his wife traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. He also was an exceptional "handyman" and could fix most anything.
Dan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dodie; a daughter, Carrie Schoonmaker of White Bear Lake; a sister, Bonnie Remmen of Detroit Lakes; brothers, William (Pat) Hodgson of Renton, WA and Warren (Diane) Hodgson of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Daniel and Nicole Schoonmaker; great-grandchildren, Rylynn and Jace Schoonmaker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Robert Hodgson, and his biological father, Everett Christy.
