Connie Fay Ulschmid, 83, of Perham, Minnesota, passed peacefully April 26, 2020 at Perham Living after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s, as her family stepped away for a rest. She was born to parents Martin and Dorothy (Franklin) Flatau, on January, 31 1937 in Perham, Minnesota.
Connie graduated from Frazee High School in 1956 where she went on to graduate from the Minneapolis Business College.
She enjoyed her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren first and foremost. She also enjoyed morning coffee with her daily readings, cooking meals for family, listening to Neil Diamond, musicals, traveling, birds, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, painting & talking with her friends and family. She had been active in Christian Mother’s, bible study, religious ed, Red Hats Club and much more. She also loved her cats, especially George who spoke highly of her as well.
Mom was a cheerleader, and dad was the the all star athlete who began their courtship on the dance floor. They were married on June 7, 1958 in Frazee. It was a marriage bound by faith and love. Together they raised their children at their farm outside of Frazee.
Connie is survived by her husband, Eugene; her children: Todd (Beth Bartholomay) of Lake Park, Toni Nichols of Stuttgart Germany, Terri Ulschmid of Shoreview, Troy (Sue Carlisle) of Carlisle, and Traci Olson of Fergus Falls. Her grandchildren: Sara Ulschmid, Quinten Ulschmid (Liza), Gabriel Ulschmid (Kayla), Erica Johnson (Brandon), Chris Ulschmid and her great grandchildren Lydia, Peter, Eden, Georgia, Gracee, Isaiah, and Elijah. She is also survived by her sisters: Winnie Ulschmid, Bonnie Flatau, Lonnie Jonson, and Vickie O’Connell.
She was preceded in death by her children: Trent and Trisa, her parents: Martin and Dorothy Flatau, her sister: Lynnie, and Gene’s parents: Anne & Frank.
We will forever miss her smile, faith, wit and wisdom.
Funeral service will be held for both Connie and Eugene Ulschmid at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 21, 2020 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Perham, MN. We will be following the recommended CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19.
