Clair Bachmann

Clair Otto “Kelly” Bachmann was born on November 12, 1940, in Frazee, Minnesota, the son of Otto and Sarah “Margaret” (Rader) Bachmann. He passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at his home in rural Frazee.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church Evergreen. Clair attended country school district #99 and graduated from Frazee High School.  In 1959, Clair enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard, serving in the infantry receiving his honorable discharge in 1965.

On September 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to Verna Drevlow in Olivia, Minnesota, to this union four children were born.

Clair was a lifelong dairy farmer and farmed until 1993 before moving to town. In 2005, Clair and Verna moved back to the families Century Farm in Silver Leaf Township.

He enjoyed spear fishing, playing cards, dancing, and traveling. Clair especially enjoyed hunting, including a trip to Montana. He served on boards for Silver Leaf Township, Midland CO-OP and was a church elder at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Clair is survived by his wife, Verna Bachmann of Frazee; children: Vince (Jane) Bachmann of Frazee; Carla (Pat) Willey of Ypsilanti, North Dakota; Jason  (Nancy) Bachmann of Frazee; grandchildren: Nolan (Megan) Kiphuth, Nick (Sheena) Kiphuth, Cynthia Engelhart, Anthony (Brooke) Bachmann, Andrew (Tavia) Bachmann, Austin (Emily) Bachmann, Alecia (Darren) Willey, Ashley (Tyler) Bachmann, Brittany (Charlton) Bachmann; great grandchildren: Caleb, Asher, Arlo, Cyrus, Hailey, Reid, Owen, Cayden, Carter, Carly, Carsyn, Noah, Ashton, Jayden; sister: Marilyn Grieser of Garden City, Missouri; Kathy Wouters of Vergas; Jon (Lola) Bachmann of Frazee.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Otto and Margaret Bachmann; daughter: Julie Lind; brother: Edward Bachmann; brothers-in-law: Duane Grieser; Larry Wouters; sister-in-law: Joyce Bachmann.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 6, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee.

Visitation will be Monday, October 5, from 5 to 7:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
