Charles Raymond Tappe, of Frazee, Minnesota, died July 5, 2024, in Perham, Minnesota.
He was born on July 25, 1943, to Ernest and Sadie Tappe of Sebeka, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm where they raised cows, geese, and the occasional fox. He attended country school where he had to walk 5 miles, uphill both ways, knee deep in snow, while keeping his lard sandwiches under his arms so they wouldn't freeze.
In 1961, he graduated from Sebeka High School and joined the Air Force. He served in Guam as a cryptographer. He attended the University of Minnesota and later Macalester College. In 1966, he met the love of his life Mary Tappe (Tuttle). They were married 4 months later and eventually settled in Frazee, Minnesota. Chuck started teaching 4th grade at Frazee Elementary in 1972 until his retirement in 2005. He had a huge impact on many young people during his career.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; daughter Keara; son Ethan; daughter-in-law Becky; and grandsons Garret and Gregory.
He was a friend to many but his family always came first.
