Carol Lenora Wick, age 73, of Frazee, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at St. Mary's Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2017, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN. A time of visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Carol was born March 27, 1943, in Perham, MN, to Emil and Lenora (Lueders) Golkowski. During her younger years, the family moved with Emil's job. The family settled in rural Frazee. Carol attended country school, later attending Frazee High School, graduating with the class of 1961. Following her schooling, Carol worked in Hopkins, MN, until 1963 when she returned to Frazee. Carol was married in July of 1963. Her life was blessed with 3 daughters: Tammy, Lora and Carmen. She began her career as a school cook in Frazee in 1969 where she worked until her retirement in 2005.
During the summer months, Carol loved spending time gardening both vegetable and flower gardens and canning the produce she harvested each year. She liked to watch the birds, deer and squirrels that ventured into her yard. Carol also helped her daughters raise rabbits.
Carol liked puzzles, bowling league, and the companionship of her pet cats. She was an avid baker and enjoyed making and decorating cakes. She took trips to Italy, Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico, Las Vegas, Norway and Alaska. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the Frazee V.F.W. Auxiliary, member of a ladies card club, and was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
Carol is survived by her 3 daughters: Tammy (Rick) Gordon of Audubon, MN, Lora Wells of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Carmen Wick of Frazee; 3 grandsons: Ricky (Amanda Doty) Quam of Big Sky, MT, Michael Quam of Belgrade, MT, and Charles Neeley of Detroit Lakes, MN; 7 siblings: JoAnn Vierling, Larry Golkowski, Michael (Christine Kelley) Golkowski, Mary Lou (Gene) Puttbrese, Tom (Betty Sczygiel) Golkowski, Randy (Tammy) Golkowski, and Scott (Mary) Golkowski; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Carol in death were her parents; sister-in-law, Chick Golkowski; and brother-in-law, Jim Vierling.
