Betty Moltzan

Betty Lou Moltzan, age 87, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Ecumen Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Betty Lou was born April 29, 1932 in Fergus Falls, to Arnold and Lillian (Kegley) Rusch. She grew up in Dent and attended Perham High School graduating with the class of 1950.

On October 31, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Alfred “Dudley” Moltzan and they were blessed with 6 children: Gary, Mary, Sue, David, Rick and Ronny. They lived in Pelican Rapids, until moving to Frazee in 1971. Betty was a homemaker; taking care of the children and tending to her large garden. Later, she began working at Swift’s Turkey Plant in Frazee until her retirement.

Betty played the piano, loved cats and taking long walks. She was an avid Twins, Vikings fan, and enjoyed following Frazee High School sports.  In her later years, she spent her time playing cards, bingo, dominos and board games with friends. Betty was always happy to visit with family and friends. Her family was very important to her.

She is survived by her children: Gary Moltzan of Perham; Mary (Greg) Dahlgren of Vergas; Sue (Tom) Schrupp of Vergas; David Moltzan of Vergas; Rick (Missy) Moltzan of Vergas; Ronny (Sonia) Moltzan of Frazee; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Dudley in 2009; her parents: Arnold and Lillian; great-granddaughter: Gale Moltzan; daughter-in-law: Laurie Moltzan.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, MN. Visitation will be Monday, November 11 from 4-7:00 PM with 7 PM prayer service at Furey Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
