Rosburg, Becky (Ziemer), age 62, of Frazee, MN, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 23, 2011.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2011 at Community Alliance Church near Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, MN. The family welcomes flowers or donations can be made in Becky's name to any pregnancy center that would save a baby's life.
Rebecca Rene was born March 11, 1948 the first of four children, to Edward and Irene (Sorensen) Ziemer at the Fairmont Community Hospital. Becky was born on her Mother's birthday, in 30 degree below zero weather. Becky grew up and attended school in Fairmont, MN. She was active in the Fairmont High School marching band where she enjoyed playing the clarinet. She graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1966.
Following her graduation, Becky went on to attend Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She later attended the Detroit Lakes Vocational School where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Rosburg at Fairmont, MN, in April of 1971. This union was blessed with two daughters: Holly and Heidi. The young family moved to Birchmere Resort on Little Toad Lake, near Frazee, MN in 1976 which they operated for a number of years. The family remained in the Frazee, MN area where Becky fulfilled her calling as a lay midwife which she continued to do until the time of her passing. She was blessed to have "caught" 555 babies during this time, all of which were home deliveries in the tri-state area. Becky was instrumental in starting the Agape Pregnancy Crisis Center in Detroit Lakes where they had their office in the local hospital. She was also a pioneer in the homeschooling movement in Minnesota. Becky was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Frazee. Many people found Becky to be a great wealth of support, information and comfort and often called on her during their times need. She will be dearly missed.
Becky's grandchildren were the joy of her life. When she was not spending time with them, she was often scrapbooking pictures of them. She was an avid quilter and her siblings were blessed to receive heritage quilts from her. Becky was also an active gardener and planted vegetable, flower and herb gardens. She used her home grown vegetables to create delicious homemade foods that were often enjoyed by her family. She will especially be remembered for her Minnesota wild rice soup and homemade breads.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Irene Ziemer of Fairmont, MN; 2 daughters and grandchildren: Holly (Tim) Drewes of Frazee and their children: Toby, Rory, Gabe, Ella, Anna, Greta & Josiah; and Heidi (Troy) Houger of Colorado Springs, CO and their children: Levi, Abbi & Maci; Kylene Miosek, whom Becky considered another daughter; 3 siblings: JoAnne (Mike) McNabb of Tampa, FL, Jeff Ziemer of Fairmont, MN and Alan Ziemer of Tacoma, WA; 12 nieces and nephews; 25 great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward in 1988.
