Arvid Matson

Arvid Matson, age 94, of Frazee, MN, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the Frazee Care Center.

Arvid Leo “Butch” Matson was born October 18, 1927 to H.P. and Jennie (Pfeiffer) Matson on the family farm at McHugh, MN.  He attended McHugh District 22 School.  Arvid worked for Swift Inc. in Detroit Lakes and Frazee Turkey Plant.  He also worked for the Soo Line Railroad.

Arvid loved gardening and hunting.  He would share the bounty of his garden with anyone who needed or asked.  Arvid liked to spend many hours at his sister June’s house having coffee and talking, that was a big part of his life, especially in the later years.  Arvid never married.  But he loved having his many nieces and nephews around.  He loved watching the great-nieces and nephews play.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes.  Arvid loved the Lord and he knew that he would have a place in Heaven with Jesus.

Arvid is survived by one sister, June Pearson, Frazee, MN; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Elna Schooler, Jennie Simmons, and Peter Matson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Frazee Care Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the care that Arvid received.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 23 at First Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are with the Furey Funeral Home of Frazee.
